A student project

As part of a SkillsUSA project, a group of Merlo students worked with the San Joaquin County Public Works Division to create this map. The map shows locations people can go to turn in old medications as part of the annual DEA Drug Take Back. This is one example of Merlo students using Geospatial Technologies.

Merlo Institute Students Attend Recycling Summit II

merlostudents.jpgSeptember 11, 2012 - Students at the Merlo Institute of Environmental Technology participated in the Recycling Summit held in Stockton on September 11, 2012.  Merlo Institute students continue to be  involved in the communit, especially in the areas concerned with environmental and technological areas.  Only two schools from Stockton were represented, Merlo Institute and Bear Creek.  Our students did a great job representing their school and the SkillsUSA program.  Last year 21 students won gold medals and went to the state competition in San Diego and 10 went further to Kansas City.  Merlo is trying to incorporate the environment as part of the pathway to learning about careers and college preparation.
